MEDICAL PUBLICATIONS MANAGER

The Medical Publications Manager is responsible for executing publication plans through timely development of accurate and GPP compliant publication activities. The Medical Publications Manager leads the publication projects/account(s) from a client and medical content perspective, making use of strong project management, communication, and medical writing skills. The Medical Publications Manager is able to leverage between the different stakeholders (internally and externally), understand and commit to GPP compliance and Aptitude Health-/client-specific SOPs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a wide range of medically accurate documents, addressing different types of audiences
  • Manage publication projects within pre-established timelines
  • Execute publication plans compliant with Good Publication Practices and client-/Aptitude Health-specific SOPs
  • Track and report progress of various publication projects
  • Provide expert guidance on journal / congress selection
  • Carry out regular surveillance of literature
  • Build solid relationships with clients and authors and adequately manage their expectations
  • Identify opportunities for new business through discussion with clients (e.g. status calls, meetings to get updated on communication goals, etc); discuss those new business opportunities with the account lead and plan a path forward
  • Freelancer management
  • Participate in publication activities onsite (e.g. society meetings, scientific congresses)
  • Use and maintain publication tracking databases (e.g. DataVision and PubStrat)
  • For assigned account(s), assist the account lead in the preparation/review of budgets and proposals, and project financial tracking

 

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • PhD, preferably in life sciences or other health-related field
  • Preferably 2 years + experience in publication management or medical communications (in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment or in agency-side), ideally in the field of oncology or hematology
  • Preferably familiarity with ICMJE, GPP, and other international standards for ensuring the quality and transparency of publications
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency using medical/scientific publication databases/resources and project software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
