PLATFORM SOLUTION ARCHITECT

This is a US remote position. The Platform Solution Architect will play a critical leadership role in designing and scaling a modern, cloud-native, AI-enabled multi-sided platform that serves multiple stakeholder groups across the healthcare and Life Sciences ecosystem as well as multiple roles/personas within Aptitude Health.

Job Summary

The Platform Solution Architect will play a critical leadership role in designing and scaling a modern, cloud-native, AI-enabled multi-sided platform that serves multiple stakeholder groups across the healthcare and Life Sciences ecosystem as well as multiple roles/personas within Aptitude Health.

This individual will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data, AI, and business stakeholders to define architectural standards, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure our platform remains secure, scalable, resilient, and adaptable.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Strategy

  • Define and maintain the long-term architectural roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Design scalable, secure, and highly available platform architectures that support multiple user constituencies, including Life Sciences customers, oncology physicians, researchers, and internal teams.
  • Establish architectural principles, standards, governance processes, and best practices across the technology organization.
  • Evaluate technology investments and guide architectural decision-making across products and engineering teams.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural oversight for critical initiatives.

 

Multi-Sided Platform Design

  • Design systems that support diverse stakeholder experiences while maintaining a unified platform architecture.
  • Drive platform capabilities that enable engagement, collaboration, insights generation, market research participation, and data exchange.
  • Build extensible APIs, integration frameworks, and reusable platform services that accelerate product development.
  • Architect systems that effectively manage identity, permissions, user segmentation, personalization, and workflow orchestration across multiple user groups.
  • Ensure the platform can scale efficiently as user participation and data volumes grow.

 

AI-First Technology Leadership

  • Champion an AI-first mindset throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate Generative AI, intelligent agents, machine learning, and advanced analytics into both internal operations and customer-facing experiences.
  • Design architectures that leverage AI capabilities responsibly, securely, and at scale.
  • Drive implementation of AI-assisted engineering practices, including developer productivity tools, automated testing, code generation, and intelligent operational monitoring.
  • Partner with Product and Data teams to create AI-powered workflows that enhance the experience of Life Sciences customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Establish architectural patterns for integrating large language models (LLMs), vector databases, retrieval systems, knowledge repositories, and agentic workflows.

 

Technology & Engineering Excellence

  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to ensure architectural consistency and technical quality.
  • Define cloud architecture, integration strategies, data architecture, data pipelines, observability, and security frameworks.
  • Support teams in resolving complex technical challenges and scaling bottlenecks.
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, cloud automation, and platform engineering.
  • Ensure architectural decisions consider maintainability, performance, security, regulatory requirements, and long-term business value.

 

Data & Security

  • Design architectures that support secure collection, storage, processing, and analysis of platform data.
  • Partner with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure solutions align with applicable privacy and data protection requirements.
  • Establish data governance, interoperability, and access control frameworks.
  • Ensure architectural designs incorporate appropriate security controls and operational resilience.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Solution Architect, Platform Architect, or related architecture leadership role.
  • Minimum 8 years of overall software engineering, systems architecture, or technology leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering large-scale, cloud-native applications and platforms.
  • Experience architecting multi-tenant or multi-sided platforms serving multiple user groups and business stakeholders.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional technical initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Experience working closely with product, engineering, and executive leadership teams.

 

Technical Experience

  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns.
  • Experience with platform architecture, identity management, authentication, authorization, and access control models.
  • Knowledge of data architecture, modern databases, analytics platforms, and data governance practices.
  • Experience designing secure and highly available enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and monitoring solutions.

 

AI & Emerging Technologies

  • Demonstrated experience implementing AI-enabled products, services, or enterprise capabilities.
  • Understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), vector search, AI orchestration frameworks, and agent-based systems.
  • Strong perspective on how AI can transform end-user workflows, engagement models, and business processes.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve software delivery, engineering productivity, and architectural decision-making.

 

Key Competencies

  • Experience in Healthcare, Life Sciences, Oncology, Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Healthcare Market Research, or Digital Health environments.
  • Understanding of healthcare data ecosystems, stakeholder engagement models, and regulatory considerations.
  • Experience designing platforms that facilitate collaboration, knowledge exchange, insights generation, or professional communities.

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Travel may be required based on business needs (domestically and internationally) and attend virtual programs outside of working hours as needed.

The range for this role is $180,000 – 190,000 and based upon several factors including experience, education, skills, training, qualifications, location, and company need.

He has led studies across the full life cycle—from startup through publication—supporting objectives that range from understanding a disease’s natural history to fulfilling global safety surveillance requirements. Matthew brings deep expertise in orphan disease programs, having overseen more than 25 long-term, global initiatives, as well as in disease and product registries, prospective pharmacoeconomic studies, and systematic literature reviews. Matthew leads the RWE Registries team, responsible for building the business and team. Prior to joining Aptitude Health, he held senior leadership roles at Parexel, Worldwide Clinical Trials, inVentiv Health Clinical, Quintiles Outcome, and ICON Clinical Research. Jez is a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience in general management and regional president roles. He has a proven track record of success in the healthcare industry, having worked in the US, Japan, Australia, Korea, South Africa, France, and the UK for Sanofi, where he supported the launch of 10 new drugs across various therapeutic areas. As chief commercial officer at UDG Healthcare and EVP at Ashfield, Jez demonstrated his expertise in developing and implementing successful business strategies. He joined Aptitude Health from Pharmaspectra, an IQVIA business, where he served as CEO since 2018.
